ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned. 

The essential functions include: 

  • Serve as the graphic designer for all in-house, external and event-related collateral
  • Design header images and other content for four websites owned by nonprofit, including the blog hosted on Wordpress
  • Responsible for staffing of meetings with department liaisons for brand ambassador committee
  • Responsible for managing the design request forms and submissions
  • Responsible for coordination of mailings as assigned by Sr. Director of Communications & Marketing
  • Takes photographs of events and activities, as necessary and upload to online photo album, and other social media outlets
  • Design social media content and online giving campaign images
  • Design Weekly Staff Briefing, nonprofit employee newsletter
  • Create and maintain Story Bank
  • Independently and as part of a team recommend strategies and messaging to effectively increase dollars and visibility coming to Hillsides
  • Other duties as required

  • Ability to use computer keyboard up to 50% of the day
  • Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds 

Equipment and Computer Software Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent use of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Computer literate (advanced working knowledge of Microsoft WORD, Excel, Outlook or other desktop publishing software)
  • Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required

ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to work evenings and weekends

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly work indoors in a variety of environments
  • Potential exposure to blood born pathogens  

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATES

  • AA or BA degree in graphic design, or other related program or minimum 2 years professional experience in a graphic design role
  • Proficient graphic design and use of Adobe Creative Suite and computer generated formatting skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communications abilities
  • Project management experience
  • Skilled in photography
  • Experience working closely and collaboratively with volunteers
  • General understanding of key areas of fundraising and agency operations
  • Valid California drivers license, driving record and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides’ insurance carrier
