Job Status: Part Time
Hillsides is a premier provider dedicated to improving the overall well-being and functioning of vulnerable children, youth, and their families. We provide high quality care, advocacy, and innovative services that promote safe, permanent environments where young people can thrive.
In times of crisis, many turn to spirituality and religion as a source of comfort, hope, and stability. Hillsides is currently seeking a Chaplain to address these needs for the children and families served in our residential treatment program. The Chaplain will have clinical and theological training required to work with people of diverse faiths and traditions in an intensive treatment setting. He or she will work closely with our centralized admittance office to identify and coordinate with the children and families who elect to receive pastoral care. With consent of the child and family, the Chaplain will also work with the treatment team. Pastoral care services will always be informed by and supportive of the treatment plan.
The Chaplain is also available to Hillsides’ staff. Clinical team members often experience significant emotional distress as a result of working so closely with children in crisis. Pastoral care services are one component of Hillsides’ trauma-informed approach to service, which is rooted in our understanding of the profound ways traumatic stress affects children and can vicariously impact caregivers and treatment staff. Access to a chaplain is one form of support Hillsides provides to our staff to help them cope with these experiences and strengthen them for their important work.
